Former Paris resident James “Jim”
Ripley Brandon, 78, of Summerfield, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, in
Florida. His wife of 33 years, Paula Whaley Brandon, survives. His funeral was conducted Thursday at The Villages, Fla. A graveside service was held Saturday in East View Cemetery in Shellman, Ga. Brandon was born Nov. 23, 1932, the son of the late Gaylon and Nell Patterson Brandon, who lived in Paris. Brandon was a Grove High School graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in administration and supervision from Murray State University. After graduating, he taught and coached in school and was a school principal. He later worked in sales for Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals, where he became district, regional and general sales manager. He retired as vice president of marketing for Financial Insurance. He also leaves two stepchildren: Paul Dinos and Leanne Middleton; two nieces: Jo Ellen Watson Almquist of Sedalia, Mo., and Mary Pat Moody Rowland of Jackson; and five grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two sons: Philip Gaylon Brandon and James Stephen Brandon; and three sisters: Frances Brandon McReynolds, Clara Brandon Watson and Gay Nell Brandon Moody.
