James R. Fitzsimmons, age 85, of Paris, Tenn., died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

He married June 3, 1955 to Allene Graham Fitzsimmons and she survives. James was a Member of First Christian Church. He served in US Army for 2 years then 36 years in the National Guard. He retired from the Paris Post Office after 30 years. He was a member of the Paris Lions Club and was Inducted into Paris Henry County Sports Hall of Fame May 6, 2003 as a member of the well-known 1949 undefeated Grove High School Football Team.

James was born November 22, 1929 in Paris, TN to the late Eugene Fitzsimmons and the late Macie Hill Fitzsimmons.

Besides his wife Allene, he is also survived by his One Daughter, Vicki (Randall) Fitzhugh of Paris, Tenn; Three Grandchildren, Kasey (Ryan) Muench, Jarrod Fitzsimmons, and Brittney Fitzhugh, all of Paris, TN; and a Niece, Wanda (Ric) Davis of Paris, TN.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Denise Fitzsimmons in infancy; Son, James R. “Jimmy” Fitzsimmons II; and a Sister, Ann Clark.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Friday, September 4, 2015 and from 9 – 11 am Saturday, September 5, 2015. The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2015.

Cory Glover and Rickey Parker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Daryl Dunlap, Roland Parkhill, Reed Shepherd, Crockett Mathis, Ed Tayloe, Robert Adams, Ray Adams, and Frankie VanDyke.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, Tenn.
