Former Paris resident Joe Edward Norwood, 71, of Raleigh, Miss., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis from a ruptured thoracic aortic aneurysm.

His wife, Bettie Lane Norwood, survives.

A memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Paris Convention Center behind Hampton Inn. A private family service and burial is planned in Paris.

Norwood was the son of Lowell Norwood and Annie Mae Smith Norwood Wyatt and the stepson of George Wyatt, all now deceased.

He was a retired salesman and sign and vinyl graphic manufacturer and an accomplished graphic artist and musician. He participated in developing contemporary music programs at central Mississippi churches and was a member of First Baptist Church in Raleigh.

He also leaves one daughter: Teri Lynn (Michael) Kruse of Orange, Calif.; two grandsons: Matthew and Kainoa Kruse, both of Orange; two brothers: Ray (Marcettia) Norwood of Paris and Tommy Wyatt of Pleasant View; two sisters: Jeri Ann Wyatt Wiseman of Hermitage and Sue Wyatt Mann of Nashville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, from Tennessee and Mississippi; and special friends from the staff and residency of Morningside of Paris.

A brother, Billy Dale Wyatt, also preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to the Lee Academy for the Arts, 402 Lee St., Paris or First Baptist Church, 249 Main St., Raleigh, MS 39153.
