Terry E. Travis ~ Obituary

The funeral service for security guard and former Celotex employee Terry E. Travis of Paris was set at 1 p.m. today at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Corey Cain of Maplewood Baptist Church, where Travis was a member, and Paul Veazey were to officiate. Burial was to follow in Palestine Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers were Danny and Larry Snider, Lloyd and Ray Lewis and Gary and Nick Morris.

Visitation was Sunday and today.

Travis, 69, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his residence.

His wife, Norma Snider Travis, survives. They were married on March 21, 1964.

Travis was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Paris, the son of Louise Marshall Travis of Paris and the late James Edward Travis, who died Sept. 13, 1996.

Travis served in the National Guard for six years, worked at Celotex until the plant closed in 1985, and continued as a guard until he died. His hobbies were farming and raising cattle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A family member said he was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.

He also leaves two daughters: Julie Travis of Paris and Jennifer (Jeff) Gean of Columbia; two grandchildren: Jessica and Natalie Gean; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
