Retired teacher Elaine Harding Vincent, 65,
of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Henry County Medical Center. She was married on July 5, 2002, to Daniel M. Vincent, who survives. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Robert Martin of First United Methodist Church in Paris, where she was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Don Matlock, David Plauche, Bret Tanner, Daniel Vincent, William and David Perkins, Harold Williams and Bill Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grove High School Class of 1962. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Born in Henry County on Jan. 3, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Phillip Ray Harding Sr., and Zelma Lucile Anderson Harding. A 1962 Grove High School graduate, she earned her bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She retired from the Paris Special School District as a kindergarten teacher. She taught at Rhea, Inman Middle and Atkins-Porter schools and was an active in the Retired Teachers Association. She also was a former officer in the Tennessee Education Association. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and according a family member an avid country music dancer. She also leaves a son: Philip Warren McMackin of Paris; a stepdaughter: Heather Vincent of Florida; two stepsons: Daniel Vincent of Lebanon and Michael Vincent of Nashville; a sister: Helen (Milton) Henderson of Nashville; a brother: Ray (Noragene) Harding of Paris; A grandchild: Caleb Joshua McMackin of Paris; one nephew: Harold Drummond (Stacy) Williams of Memphis; and two nieces: Lydia Lee (David) Plauche and Catherine Lucile (Bret) Tanner, both of Atlanta. |
