Paris native Charlie Wilkins, 68,
of Greenbrier died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at NorthCrest Medical Center in
Springfield. The body was cremated. His wife of 31 years, Janet Fielder Wilkins, survives. A celebration of life service was conducted Friday at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier, with Andrew Ivey officiating. Born July 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Claude W. and Maudell McFadden Wilkins. He served as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. A family member said he loved life, riding motorcycles, bowling, deer hunting, talking politics, dancing, music and had a sense of humor, who laughed a lot and could talk to anyone. He also leaves one son: John Ross “J.R.” Wilkins and friend Misty Wallace of Maynardville; two daughters: Jacqueline Tallent of Jackson and Rhonda (Chad) Richardson of Springfield; one sister: Carol Afflick of Morristown; a sister-in-law: Reba Wilkins of Seymour; a special family friend: Fran Belt of Morristown; and six grandchildren: Austin and Sean Wilkins, Garrett Tallent and Cody, Emily and Elizabeth Richardson.
