Downtown Paris Carnival
From The Paris Post-Intelligencer Files
Downtown Paris was transformed with a carnival during the early days of the
World's Largest Fish Fry. Rides were set up
on the court square, as seen here with riders enjoying rides on the Whip and farris
wheel. During the years of the Fish Fry's
predecessor, Mule Days, a near tragedy occurred in 1938 when a support gave
way on the farris wheel, causing it to tilt.
Quick work by the carnival crew and others averted loss of life or serious injury.
