The Blue and Gold
Members of the Puryear High School Class of 1955 gathered July 2 at the Hinchey Cemetery Road home of classmate Thomas Bratton for a 50th-year reunion. Janice Bratton helped her husband host 15 of the original 26 classmates and their spouses. Three former classmates who attended Puryear but graduated from other schools also attended. They were Joan H. Underwood, Tommy Dan Story and Bobby Joe Lattimer. Appetizers were served as the guests mingled before the meal. |
Memorabilia of school years was
on display and John Alexander provided a video of past class reunions. William Watson Atchison gave the welcome. Gary H. McSwain gave the blessing before the meal. Following the meal Donna Rhodes Cooley led a memorial service for the five deceased classmates. They are Almeda Nanney Stamps, Norma Williams Dillard, Myra Wilson Valentine, Jimmy Lamb and Derrel Wilson. Ann Snow Alexander furnished door prizes for everyone. Mrs. Cooley provided mugs to the classmates. |
