Puryear High School ~ Class of 1960 ~ 45th Reunion

Members of the Puryear High School Class of 1960 and their spouses met Aug. 4 at Tom's Pizza and Steak House for their 45th-year reunion.

It was the first time some class members had seen each other since their graduation.

Those attending talked and shared fond memories, old snap-shots and their lives since they
last were together. After a time of reaquaintance, a short meeting was held before the meal.

Freddie Wade, class president, welcomed each one, recognized both class members Who are
deceased, Jerry Thompson and Curtis Petty. He also recognized those who could not attend - Jimmy Stephens and Patsy Goodner Elkins.

Former teacher and special guest Baxter Wheatley gave a class history and his memories
of the class, as well as telling about his life since 1960.

Class members stood in the same position for snapshots as they had been for their junior-
senior banquet picture.

After a few attendees departed, class member Lucretia Henderson Dill and husband Wayne
invited the remaining 17 people to her homeplace for further fellowship. The Dills are restoring the farm house.

A buffet of beverages, strawberry cake, watermelon and cantaloupe was served.

Organizing the reunion were Freddy Paschall and Tom Morton.

From a class of 21, graduates attending were: Judy Crowder Shankle, Jimmy and Judy Pas-
chall Hamilton, Jerry and Lynett Orr McElroy and Freddie Wade, all of Paris;

Gearld and Sharon Hill Ray, Betty Evans James Thompson, Bobby and Patricia Hunt McEl-
roy, Gaynetia Valentine Gallimore, all of Puryear; Charles and
Linda Byars Stanley, Henry; Deloris Enoch Collins, Palmersville; Joyce Alexander and
Tom Dyer, Millington; Tom Morton of Argos, Ind.;

Wayne and Lucretia Henderson Dill, Evansville, Ind.; Dianne Enoch Cole, Montgomery, Ala.; Janice Spann and Bill Wilson, Conway, Ark.; and Lyndell Kent Pittman, Freddy Paschall, Olive Branch, Miss.;

Also attending were special guest and former teacher Baxter Wheatley and wife Carlene Wheatley of Union City, as well as Joe Dudley Thompson and wife Maria. Thompson is
a brother to deceased classmate Jerry Thompson.

Other former classmates and visitors attending included Dwain Evans, Rita Collins
Lamb, Larry Gallimore, Bert and Judy Jimmerson Paschall and Carolyn Dunn Ray.

The next gathering will be in 2007.
