THE SOCIAL SIDE |
Picture Show Party for Vergil Class Miss Trevathan gave her Senior La- tin Class a lovely surprise early in the fall of 1916, in honor of Miss Portia Hamilton, who was leaving Paris to move to Paducah. We are sure that each one feels a great degree of grati- tude to Vergil for the luscious box of divinity he caused them to have. The Seniors Entertain At Miss Thelma Hancock's home on Poplar street, on the evening of March the ninth, the Seniors entertained the Inter-Class Contestants and the fac- ulty. After music and dancing, the guests were asked to guess who many baby pictures were. This proved to be very amusing. The Senior colors, green and white, were used in the beautiful dining room decorations. On e-ach of the five small tables green and white candles and shades softly lighted the room. On the large table in the center of the room, the guests noted a beautiful centerpiece of o-green and white carnations tied with a large bow of green and white tulle. A de- licious salad and ice course was served. Every one declared this to be one of the happiest evenings they had ever spent. The Juniors Entertain the Seniors On April 13. the Junior Class gave the Seniors their social farewell by beautifully entertaining at the home of Miss Elsa Ezell, on Dunlap street. On arriving, the guests were served grape punch bv Miss Dorothy Jacobs. Music |
and contests were the special features of the evening. In the delicious ice course, which was served, the Senior colors were cleverly carried out. If any ill feeling was left after the Inter- Class Contest, it was all swept away on that night, for the Juniors proved themselves true Southerners in their hospitality. The Freshmen Entertain the Seniors The Freshmen entertained the Sen- iors in a jolly picture show party on the night of April 20. After the show we went to the home of Miss Ruby Johnson, where Mr. Zimmerman de- lighted us with several selections from Carrie Jacobs Bond's songs. In the dining room. beautifully and artisti- cally decorated with dogwood blos- soms, a delicious salad course was served and a tiny diploma given to each Senior. Our wish is that the Freshmen realize how very much fun the class of '17 had with them on the night of March 20. ____________________ Let us tell you something of our good times planned for commence- ment week. On Monday. May 2T, the Seniors will spend the day at Sulphur Well. A jolly good time is anticipated. On Wednesday evening, a banquet will be given at the Caldwell Ho- tel in honor of Mr. E. W. Grove. On Thursday evening following the commencement exercises, our sister class, the Sophomores, will entertain us at dear old Grove. With this, class of '17, Farewell! |
