The   1934-35  School  year

1935  CLASS   POEM  and  SONG

Class Poem

Four years ago, as timid Freshmen,
First we climbed up "old Grove" hill,
Our high school days were now beginning,
And starting with a zealous will.

Through the years we pressed on forward,
Ambitious, eager, and alive.
Time sped by and brought us toward
The longed-for date of thirty-five.

We had our hardships, little sorrows,
Though no real worries faced us yet.
We've had our joys that in tomorrows
Will linger and we can't forget.

Now we approach the final turning,
When friend and foe alike must part.
And each must go his way, though yearning
Memories may fill his heart.

And so we've reached the end together,
For most of us, school days will end.
Deep in our hearts we wonder whether
Our life will be so good again.

Class Song

Four years we've studied and now we may be
Contented and happy to look back and see
Our school days are over and now we are free
To look to our future and see what will be.

We've come at last to the parting
When our old friends fade from view.
We'll wait for the day 'til we meet again
Old memories to renew.

We'll wait patiently thro' these long, long years
Filled with cares, sorrows, and tears,
'Til some day we'll find the peace of our minds
With our friends of Grove High School years.
