Boys' Basketball at Grove
Is Definitely Looking Up
In the past with very little Interest being displayed and not having an adequate place to
practice, there seemed to be only a minor place for boys' basketball on the Grove athletic
program.
With the building of our new gymnasium and the gathering of basketball interest, Grove is
assured of future boys' teams which will be feared and respected by their opponents.
Beginning the season's play without the services of two regulars, the team gained
momentum, and, at the end of the season, had rolled over nine opponents. Among those teams
defeated were Trezevant, Henry, and Union City.
With only one letterman graduating and a host of promising reserves, sophomores, and
freshmen on hand to fight for starting positions, next year's team should really
"go."
Robert Compton all-county. Here is a boy that will be missed very much next year,
both for his ability as player and as leader. Lettermen were: Dick, Compton, Shofner,
Williamson, Doty, Pulley, Priddy, Stephenson. |
