Charlotte Canon

A memorial service for Paris native Charlotte Halliburton Watkins Canon, 91, of Falkville, Ala., is planned at 3 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Florence, Ala., where Canon was a charter member and bookkeeper for 25 years.

John McKell will officiate.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the church.

Canon died Saturday March 7, 2015, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville.

She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Paris to the late Charles H. and Bertie Greer Watkins.

She was married to Ruffin Sledge Canon, who preceded her in death.

Canon was a graduate of the University of Memphis.

She is survived by two daughters: Amelia B. Canon of Hartselle, Ala., and Eleanor K. Canon of Baton Rouge, La.; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister: Eleanor W. Mackintosh and a twin brother: Charles H. Watkins Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle was in charge of arrangements.
