Edwina Neele Brooks Compton ~ Obituary

Paris native Edwina Nelle Brooks Compton, 76, of Lexington, died Sept. 30, 2015, in her home.

A joint memorial service with her late husband, William Barry Compton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Holt Wilson will officiate. Her body was cremated.

Compton was born Feb. 25, 1939, to the late Charles Harold and Lottie Mae Brooks.

She married William Barry Compton in 1957. He died March 11, 2015.

Compton attended Grove High School with her husband. She owned and operated Compton’s Upholstery Co. out of her home for several years.

After she retired, she was a homemaker and cared for her mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, where she was an elementary age Sunday school teacher for many years.

She is survived by two daughters: Phyllis Compton and companion Bob Hayford, and Barrie Candace Williams; a son: Robert Stacy (Lorie) Compton;

Four grandchildren: Andrea Taylor (Matthew) Horton, Matt Compton, Corey Hayes and Mason Williams; four great-grandchildren; and a sister: Glenda Brooks Milton of Nashville.
