Melton Greene, 77, of Middleton died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Bolivar
General Hospital. Her husband Jake Greene survives. They were married on Aug. 23, 1952. Local survivor is a sister, Shirley (Kenny) Sliger of Paris. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Middleton. Burial and a graveside service are planned at 3 p.m. Friday in Bevil Cemetery southwest of Paris. Born July 4, 1934, in Paris, she was a daughter of the late Noble and Katie Sager Melton. She grew up in Paris and lived in Middleton for about 30 years. She was a 1952 graduate of Grove High School and a member of First Christian Church in Paris. A family member said she loved to sew and make pageant and wedding dresses, but especially loved being a grandmother. She also leaves five children: Pam (Joe) Jackson of Middleburg, Fla., Nicky Greene and Greg (Michelle) Greene, both of Middleton, and Teresa (Tom) Morrison and Kris (Brian) Barron, both of Collierville; eight grandchildren: Marshall Jackson, Lesley Beck, Nicole Thomas, Bryce, Jordan and McKinley Morrison and Zack and Tyler McKee; and five great-grandchildren: Kaylie Jackson, Dean Austin, Ty Thomas and Emily and Annabelle Beck. A brother, James Melton, preceded her in death. |
