| The funeral service for Virginia
Sturdivant Hendrix of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral
Home. Trent Bullock will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday and an hour before the service Saturday. Hendrix, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at her residence. Born Oct. 13, 1929, in Paris, she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel Merle Sinclair Sturdivant. She was married on Nov. 1, 1968, to Vernon Hendrix, who died Sept. 10, 2013. A family member said she attended First Baptist Church, where she dearly loved the ladies of her Sunday school class. She leaves a stepson: Mike (Karen) Hendrix of Nashville; a step-granddaughter: Keri (Ricky) Brookshire of Boaz, Ky.; two great-step-grandchildren: Hanna and Jenna Brookshire of Boaz; One nephew: Steve (Linda) Nanny of Marshall, Texas; four great-nieces and great-nephews: Greg Nanny of Bossier City, La., Laurie (David) Ragugini of Marshall, Texas, Lynn Ellen Nanny of San Antonio, Texas, and Leslie (James) Garton of Sydney, Australia; Five great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews: Dawson, Ryan and Mason Ragugini, all of Marshall, and Gemma and Bella Garton, both of Sydney; and one brother-in-law: Wayne (Dianne) Hendrix of Cleveland, Ohio. She also was preceded in death by a brother: Glenn Nanny. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Center of Henry County, 1290 Kelley Drive, Paris. |
