Mary Frances "Sally" Hicks Smith ~ obituary

The funeral service for Mary Frances “Sally” Hicks Smith of Paris will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

The Rev. Larry Simmons from First Baptist Church, where Smith was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Smith, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.

Born Aug. 13, 1928, in Paris, she was a daughter of the late E. O. and Bessie Ellen Dinwiddie Hicks.

She was married on June 27, 1948, to Richard Harrell Smith, who died Feb. 6, 2009.

Smith attended the University of Tennessee at Memphis’ college of dentistry and was a Dental Assistant

She leaves one daughter: Debra (Dudley) Kinsley of Floral Park, N.Y.; one son: Richard M. “Mike” (Dawn) Smith of Warrenton, Va.; one sister: Betty Herndon of Paris; two grandchildren: Rebecca Frances Smith of Lexington, Ky., and Kelley Elizabeth Stoker of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister: Martha Murphy; and a brother: George Hicks.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 313 N. Poplar St., Paris, TN 38242.
