Hobby Smith, 80, of Johnson City died Friday, March 2, 2012. A memorial service is scheduled at 7 p.m. today at Borderview Christian Church in Elizabethton where she was a member. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Kirk Langston will officiate. Her body was donated to Quillen College of Medicine of Johnson City and will be buried at a later date. Smith was born in Paris on Dec. 20, 1931, to the late Henry Willis Hobby Sr. and Lasker Delillian Finch Hobby. She graduated from Grove High School, Class of 1949 and from Toler’s Business College in Paris. She was married to Vernon Presson Smith, who died June 24, 1986. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a retired employee of First Tennessee Bank of Johnson City. Locally she is survived by a brother: Henry (Martha) Willis Hobby Jr.; a special nephew: Mitch (Tammy) Hobby; and a great-nephew: Brandon Hunter Redden, all of Paris. She is also survived by two sons: Mike (JoAnn) Smith and Jim (Deborah) Smith, both of Johnson City; and a daughter: Debbie (Raymond) Morton of Elizabethton. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
